Shermer’s Neck?

I hope I can look back on this blog entry sometime and think of it as an overreaction. A few hours ago my neck started to get sore and I started to lose strength quickly to the point that I couldn’t hold it up anymore. I had to keep stopping to rest and stretch my neck muscles to keep going for a few more kms.

There is a condition that cyclists can suffer from called Shermer’s neck. Similar to what happens to me, it comes on suddenly and quickly and the “victim” can’t go on.

I’ve pulled into a hotel in London. It’s a given that I won’t finish this ride in 75 hours which is obviously disappointing. The real concern however is that I may not finish the ride at all. I’m going to give myself a full night’s sleep with some hot showers and stretching and try again late morning tomorrow and hope for the best.

This blog is nice and amazing. I love your post! It’s also nice to see someone who does a lot of research and has a great knack for ting, which is pretty rare from bloggers these days.
    Thanks!
